Orchid Accountants ∧ Statutory Audit Firm is one of the leading practices in South Kerry. The late Donal Culloty founded the firm in 1973, from his home on Lewis Road, Killarney.
Michael Culloty was born in 1975. From an early age, Michael showed a natural flair for all aspects of accounting, taxation & audit & his abilities flourished as he grew up in the family business. After college, Michael trained with McQuillan Kelly & Co., Chartered Accountants in Dublin, qualifying on first attempt with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland in 2000.
Michael purchased the firm from his father in 2001. In the following years, through organic growth & some acquisitions, Michael developed the business to over 700 clients. In 2007 Michael moved the firm to purpose built offices at Upper Park Road, Killarney and the Orchid brand was born.
The Culloty tradition in business is testament to the entrepreneurship of the Kerry people. The Culloty family operated in business in Killarney town since the 1870’s. Donal Culloty born in 1941, married Maureen Nolan, from Killorglin, in 1962. Over the following 30 years, Donal and Maureen worked hard to build the practice, and raise their family of eight in the town of Killarney. Donal was actively involved as a member of the Killarney Town Council, being chairman in 1972/1973. Diverse business interests were integral to the Culloty family and today Michael’s siblings operate businesses in areas such as hospitality, horse-racing, fashion & sanitation.
